"These substances are the same substances that we see in the crystal form or powdered form of bath salts that are just liquified and sprayed on a plant material so they can be ingested by smoking them," said Major Tommy Ford of the Bay County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's Office focuses efforts on underage drinking

Operation Dry Spring 2015 focused on preventing underage youth from purchasing and using alcohol, tobacco and various forms of synthetic drugs. This operation was timed to coincide with the Spring Break season, when many youth experiment with drugs and alcohol.

BCSO representatives ride in Police Unity Tour

After riding in this year's tour, BCSO Sheriff Marc Tochterman said the tour helps put into perspective of what comes with being a law enforcement officer. "There's always that you never know when you leave for work in the morning what's going to happen. so it makes you aware, especially when you see something like that with all those names on the memorial. it makes you even more conscious of what's going on," said Tochterman.
