The Florida Sheriffs Association (FSA) established the Criminal Apprehension Assistance Program (CAAP) in 2018 to encourage citizen engagement. The goal of the CAAP is to assist sheriffs’ offices to investigate and solve crimes where information is limited, and the FSA does so by doubling the amount of rewards.

The 2019 Uniform Crime Report was released, and Florida’s crime rate declined for a record 49th straight year. Last year, the crime rate in Florida fell by 6.3 percent. The report also shows a 4.6 percent decrease of total index crimes, with 26,128 fewer reported offenses compared to 2018.
