Gualtieri said those with concerns about civil warrants should "talk to their congressman" because immigration laws are largely a federal matter, so Congress would need to amend the law to require judicial review. In some cases, the U.S. Attorney's Office charges suspects with criminal immigration law violations but these are rare. Many sheriff's offices honor only these warrants.

The course is an 8-hour course that is designed to give civilians the opportunity to learn safe gun handling skills as well as the legal aspects of gun ownership. The anti-drug program D.A.R.E. is preparing to make a comeback in Lake County schools after years on the sidelines because of budget cuts. Deputies from the Lake County Sheriff's Office started going through an 80-hour training class on Monday for the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program, which will prepare them to teach fifth-grade students during the 2018-2019 school year about the dangers of drugs.

Recently, JSO received calls of a body floating in the river. When officers responded they saw the body as well and Sgt. Irvin jumped into the water in attempt to rescue the victim. When he swam over to her, he did in fact assess that she was alive and from their spot in the river between the Hyatt and The Landing, he was able to signal to construction workers that he needed their help getting her out of the water.
