FDLE warns citizens to be vigilant of social media posts about hatred

In the wake of the church shooting at Emanuel A.M.E. Church in Charleston, South Carolina, the FDLE has asked the Florida NAACP to warn people and places of worship to be vigilant of social media posts about racial hatred and intent to perpetrate hatred through violent attacks.

In Sarasota child porn case, a fingerprinting first?

William Schade, a fingerprint examiner with 40 years of experience who works in Pinellas County, said he heard about the Sarasota case and was impressed. Schade, who actually taught Fulton at St. Petersburg College, said more will become possible as technology advances. He said he's never heard of anyone examining and matching fingerprints from a photograph.

Nearly 40 arrested in Orange County drug bust

Orange County sheriff's deputies and the Drug Enforcement Administration announced recently that a major drug investigation led to more than 30 arrests. Authorities called the investigation "Operation Old Cheney." Deputies said they began the investigation after repeated complaints from neighbors and businesses.

Sheriff hopes to keep 'Zero Drug Tolerance' signs

"If the signs capture drivers' attention and seem to suggest the county has a law-and-order outlook, they're on point," said Sheriff Sadie Darnell, Alachua County. "If one person finds them intimidating, then they're doing their job," she said. "So, no, I do not intend to agree to have them taken down."

Deputies working with refuge house to combat domestic violence

Heroin epidemic presents new challenges to law enforcement in Manatee

"We've seen a large increase in overdose deaths. In a lot of those cases, we haven't received back toxicology from the medical examiner's office, but based on the circumstances we believe that these are deaths related to the ingestion of heroin," said Manatee County Sheriff's Office Lt.
