Dozens arrested in Polk County anti-shoplifting operation

Between July 8 and 11, the sheriff's Organized Retail Crimes Unit worked with businesses in Auburndale, Lakeland, Winter Haven, Lake Wales and Haines City to identify suspects who were trying to conceal items on their person and leave the stores without paying, and who were scanning items not being purchased in order to pay less for the items.

Mayor and sheriff go door to door to speak with members of the community

The mayor and sheriff went door to door in Eureka Gardens, a complex that struggles with violent crime. "I think it shows how we, as a city and as a community, really care about each other," Sheriff Mike Williams said. The newly elected Williams and Curry introduced themselves and gave people the opportunity to speak personally with the city's leadership.
