"While out fishing yesterday evening, one of our detectives caught more then he was expecting," Sheriff Bill Prummell of the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office said in a video on the department's Facebook page. "He located a package floating in the Gulf of Mexico more than 20 miles offshore ... That package turned out to be more than 50 pounds of uncut powdered cocaine."

Last week, the Broward Sheriff's Office held a free, recurring gun safety course for children. Sgt. Robert Chenoweth, a BSO range master, said the time to talk to kids about guns is when they start to show curiosity. His advice to children who come across a gun is simple. "If you come in contact with a firearm - stop," Chenoweth said. "Don't touch. Leave the area. And tell and adult."

The Polk County Sheriff's Office took home the charity softball tournament trophy Saturday evening, but not before offering to split the prize money with the Lakeland Police Department. "Today we all win," Sheriff Grady Judd said after offering to split the $10,000 prize money so both agencies could use the money for their charities.
