From Dec. 19: Gov. Rick Scott said: "Ann and I are saddened by the passing of Sheriff [Jerry] Whitehead. He was a sheriff's sheriff. Sheriff Whitehead dedicated his life to protecting the families of Union County, and we are grateful for his nearly 30 years of service as sheriff. Our hearts and prayers are with Sheriff Whitehead's family during this difficult time."

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd: 92 arrested in prostitution roundup

From May 16: The suspects either responded to online ads posted by undercover detectives posing as prostitutes, or they were prostitutes themselves who posted ads and came to the undercover location, offering their services. Among those arrested was Samuel Yoon, 45, of California. He is a youth counselor who thought he would be meeting a 14-year-old girl.

Judd speaks on girl's suicide from social media bullying

From Sept. 19: Detectives in Polk County made a tragic discovery when a missing girl was found dead in Lakeland, from an apparent suicide. Her mother says she was a victim of relentless bullying and Sheriff Grady Judd addressed the issue in a statement. "It's one of the saddest situations I've seen," Judd said.

Liberty County sheriff found not guilty, immediately reinstated

From Nov. 7: Gov. Rick Scott reinstated Liberty County Sheriff Nick Finch hours after Scott was found not guilty of falsifying public records and official misconduct. The eight-person jury handed down their verdict shortly before noon on Oct. 31.
