A specialized training course has been developed for those who are interested in becoming security consultants. The Successful Security Consulting (SSC) course is hosted by IAPSC in collaboration with ASIS International (ASIS), the world’s largest association for security management professionals. This one day, 8-hour program is offered as a pre-conference workshop at the IAPSC 2018 Annual Conference on Sunday, April 29 in San Diego. Michael S. D’Angelo is the Lead Consultant and Principal for Secure Direction Consulting, LLC. He has been in the public safety and private security industries for over 25 years. Before transitioning into security management, Mr. D’Angelo was a Police Captain, serving 20+ years with the South Miami Florida Police Department. During his law enforcement career, he served in a variety of specialized units and gained significant managerial experience as a supervisor, middle manager, and senior commanding officer. D’Angelo holds an Associate's degree in Criminal Justice Administration (Miami-Dade College) as well as a Bachelor's degree in Social and Criminal Justice (Ashford University). Additionally, he is a graduate of the prestigious Southern Police Institute’s Command Officer Development Course from the University of Louisville. Read more.

The Elliot A. Boxerbaum Memorial Award will be presented to a consulting or engineering company which designed and specified a completed security design project, accepted by the client in 2017 or Q1 2018. It will recognize collaboration, design excellence, uniqueness, creativity, and administration factors which contributed to a highly successful security project. The presentation will occur at CONSULT 2018, SecuritySpecifiers Technical Security Symposium on November 5, 2018 in Nashville, TN. Award project finalists and designers will be featured on Security InfoWatch and in Security Technology Executive magazine. More details and application here.
