On Nov. 18, William Birks, Jr., CPP, Alan Brockbank, CPP, CSC, and Rene Rieder, Jr. CPP, PSP, CHS-IV, CMAS (pictured above left to right) presented a half-day workshop at ISC East in New York teaching the essential traits for success to launch a new security consulting practice or jump-start an existing one. They covered how to start the business, attracting clients, and best practices for completing the consulting assignment. Mr. Birks also represented the IAPSC on stage during the Grand Opening Ceremony that morning (pictured above right).

Anthony McGinty established AnalyzSecurity LLC in 2015 and is its principal. For thirty years, he has served his community and country — law enforcement, military, homeland security. Field experience includes homicide and internal affairs investigations, protecting critical infrastructure, civil-disturbance details, and assignment to the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force. In 2009, Metropolitan Police Department Chief Cathy Lanier appointed him to the National Counterterrorism Center, McLean, VA. For five years, in coordination with federal law enforcement and intelligence community agencies, he identified and monitored threat groups targeting Washington, D.C. As a Marine Corps Reserve officer, Anthony was recalled to active duty four times for overseas missions: disaster relief in Honduras; NATO contingency in the Mediterranean Sea; protecting at-risk groups in Kosovo; and counterinsurgency in Iraq. Formal education includes a BA from George Washington University and graduate degrees from Georgetown University. He holds certifications in security management (ASIS-International), intelligence collection (FBI), and classified material management (US Navy). Since 1995, Anthony has held a Top Secret (with polygraph) security clearance from the Department of Defense, the FBI, and the Department of Homeland Security, respectively.

In light of the recent attacks in Paris on Nov. 13, 2015, the U.K. government's Centre for the Protection of Critical National Infrastructure (CPNI) has put together a short note detailing some key advice on what you can do to help protect your site, that is likely to be of great use to the wider security community. CPNI is looking to work more closely with the Association of Security Consultants ("ASC," a partner organization of the IAPSC) to promote good security practice by sharing this advice note as widely as possible.

A record influx of refugees has increased demand for security staff in Germany, the federal employment agency said, as the burden of managing large numbers of arrivals and securing refugee centers grows.
In its monthly job index, the agency noted a sharp rise in demand for security guards in the social and public sector.
"This increase may be linked in particular to the large demand for workers to help manage refugees," the agency said.
