Bylaws revision passed
To streamline the board nomination process, the IGLTA board voted on a small bylaws change that permits earlier selection of new board members. This change was put to a vote of the general membership and passed with more than 90 percent of voters supporting the revision. The amendment allows the Board Nomination Committee to present its slate of proposed board members for a board vote prior to the board meeting that occurs in conjunction with the Annual Global Convention. This will enable newly appointed board members to observe the last half-day of the in-person meeting that occurs in conjunction with the convention. This was previously not possible because notification occurred after the convention began. Here are the updated bylaws.

    By Shebby Lee
Every time you open a trade magazine these days, there is an article or three about adventure travel. What does that say about this segment of our industry? Yes, baby boomers who have been more independent and active throughout their lives than the previous generation are retiring and traveling in ever greater numbers. And yes, suppliers are responding to their needs with such things as adventure travel options. Yet there is a strange disconnect surrounding the trend.

Abu Dhabi airport showing fast growth
    By Matt Falcus
Abu Dhabi International Airport is seeing the results of investment as traffic growth has come in at over 12 percent in the previous year, and passenger numbers are up almost 10 percent in the last month. November's figures saw 1.33 million passengers use the airport, and almost 12,000 aircraft movements. This boost reinforces the airport's position within the busy Middle East against nearby competitors at Dubai, Qatar and Bahrain. Aside from these official figures, a number of positive news stories have emerged from Abu Dhabi over the past couple of weeks.
