SAS wins Online Campaign of the Year
IGLTA    Share    E-mail article
IGLTA congratulates member SAS Airlines, recently awarded a Webbie for Online Campaign of the Year from for its successful Love is in the Air campaign. As the leading online news and information provider for the aviation and aerospace industries, launched the Webbies three years ago to celebrate the best and brightest in aviation websites and their social media activities. The Online Campaign of the Year award was added this year to honor the website that demonstrates a creative approach to online marketing to promote a brand, product or initiative. Referring to what set the SAS Love is in the Air campaign apart from other entries, Judge Shashank Nigam, CEO of SimpliFlying, is quoted on Flightglobal's website as saying, "Through this campaign, SAS Scandinavian targeted the LGBT [community] well — a small, but often rich community, to showcase how friendly the airline is towards this specific group. Especially because not too many airlines are daring enough to enter this market so boldly. Moreover, by encouraging participants to create and upload content by themselves, and then requesting votes, the campaign leveraged 'the cult' really well. The final success factor was the real-world completion of the contest, where the whole flight was filled with gay couples. Once again, closing the loop with something that is often overlooked in online marketing. Overall, a commendable niche marketing campaign." Be sure and join us at the IGLTA Global Convention this coming 10-15 May in Fort Lauderdale to learn more ways you can build your Web 2.0 marketing and promote your business online.
