Proposed bylaw changes
IGLTA    Share   E-mail article
IGLTA has experienced incredible worldwide growth over the past five years, and with that growth comes the need for change. If we are to live up to our "international" potential, the staff and current board believe that the association's board of directors should truly reflect the character of the global tourism industry. To that end, the IGLTA board proposes that the organization makes the smooth transition from an elected board to an appointed board. This will allow us to recruit board members from more diverse regions of the world and sectors of the travel industry. It also will enable us to target board members with areas of expertise that are crucial to the association's future success.

For a detailed explanation of the proposed changes, the appointment process and other FAQ, please click here. This transition will require a change in our bylaws; therefore, we come first to you, our members, with the proposed changes (ORIGINAL BYLAWS and PROPOSED CHANGES) and welcome your comments. Please submit any feedback by 1 September. The board will review comments from the membership regarding the proposed changes and make any necessary revisions before the official vote opens 19 September. Please send any questions or comments to
