| Are Canada and Sweden the Most LGBTQ-Friendly Travel Destinations? |
According to the recent travel index developed by Spartacus International Gay Guide, Canada and Sweden find themselves at the top of the list of LGBTQ-friendly travel destinations. The Spartacus Gay Travel Index is updated annually and informs travelers on the local situation for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals in 197 countries and territories. For the first time this year, the Spartacus Gay Travel Index also takes into account the legal situation of transgender individuals. Canada gets full marks in this criterion and thus manages to secure a joint top spot in the index for the first time. The top ten LGBTQ-friendly countries further consist of mostly European Union countries that have already introduced marriage equality legislation, such as The Netherlands, France, Spain and Belgium.
