Have You Visited These LGBTQ Neighborhoods? |

One important element in the visibility of LGBTQ community has been the development of LGBTQ neighborhoods in major cities around the world. Often called gay villages or "gayborhoods," these communities share a common theme where LGBTQ-owned and welcoming businesses and venues serve the community in an open and visible manner while creating a sense of belonging and safety to those working in, living in and visiting the neighborhood. If you're planning a trip, why not consider visiting a city with a thriving LGBTQ neighborhood? If visiting Paris, Le Marais is centrally located and full of great restaurants and shopping. Madrid's gay neighborhood named Chueca is home to hundreds of LGBTQ venues and hosts the largest gay pride in Europe each summer. Greenwich Village in New York City is home to the Stonewall Inn, where the Stonewall Riots took place, leading to the modern LGBTQ rights movement. The Castro in San Francisco was another birthplace of LGBTQ rights in the US pioneered by the late Harvey Milk. Finally, Cape Town is easily South Africa's most gay-friendly destination with a beautiful backdrop of stunning mountains and its own gay neighborhood called Green Point. For more information on LGBTQ-friendly businesses around the world, be sure to check our website and plan your trip.
