John Spitzley receives MDPTC Honors Award

IoPP's Medical Device Packaging Technical Committee announced John Spitzley as the recipient of its new Honors Award at the recent HealthPack 2020 conference. The Honors Award recognizes an industry leader who has made significant contributions to advance medical device packaging.
Spitzley has been an industry leader for five decades. An IoPP CPP Lifetime and Fellow, his career path includes Technical Fellow, Medtronic (1973-2005); co-chairperson, US delegation-AAMI WG 7 formed in 1992 leading to ISO11607 in 1997; past chairman of the AdvaMed (Health Industry Manufacturers Association – HIMA) Sterilization/Packaging Committee; co-author HIMA Sterile Packaging Guidance Document. Spitzley served as HealthPack program chair from 2005-2013.
He continues as an ASTM F02 Flexible Barrier Packaging Committee member (and past executive board member) and with the Spartan Design Group.

This award, instituted in 1971, is the top honor a packaging or processing professional can receive in his or her career, recognizing significant contributions to the industry and education. The Class of 2020 will be announced during PACK EXPO International and co-located Healthcare Packaging EXPO 2020 (McCormick Place, Chicago, Nov. 8-11), produced by PMMI.
