IoPP, IPSA ink agreement to bring CPP program to South Africa
|
   |
IoPP
IoPP's Certified Packaging Professional program continues its international expansion into South Africa, as IoPP and the Institute of Packaging South Africa announce a partnership to bring CPP to that region. "Our partnership with IoPP and the World Packaging Organisation to promote the CPP program here in South Africa enables our members to achieve the highly coveted, and WPO-endorsed, CPP qualification, and by doing so, earn professional recognition within the local and global packaging areas," says Kishan Singh, CPP, IPSA's National Education Chair. "We believe this partnership also opens a gateway of global packaging opportunities to our members and supports IPSA's ideologies of packaging networking and education, and continuous professional development." Through IoPP's separate agreement with the Australian Institute of Packaging, the CPP program has developed a strong presence in Australia and New Zealand.

IoPP
IoPP announces it will test a pilot program with California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) in which designated Cal Poly nonpackaging undergraduate students will be able to take IoPP's Fundamentals of Packaging Technology online course as part of their requirements toward completing Cal Poly's MS Packaging Value Chain program. "As a way to qualify applicants without a classic academic background in packaging or related fields towards the MSPVC program, IoPP's Fundamentals online course provides a great opportunity for Cal Poly," says Jay Singh, Packaging Program Director at Cal Poly. IoPP and Cal Poly will test the pilot program in 2020, and participating students will receive a special registration price for the course.

As with most fans of college football, I like to watch my favorite team on TV and read how their success is reflected in the latest polls. Polls are not perfect, but they're the best way to rank and compare teams unless they've played each other ... and even at that there's much debate.

The Plant Based Foods Association released a set of voluntary labeling standards for plant-based meat alternatives with the goal of promoting consistency across the category.
The trade group specified that manufacturers can describe meat alternatives using terms referring to the conventional meat they intend to mimic as well as the shape or form they take like burger or nugget, but products should include a prominent reference to a qualifier that describes the product, such as plant-based or vegetarian.
