Marketing when you're busy gets the phone ringing when you're not
By Fred Berns
Too many green industry companies use warmer weather and crowded calendars as reasons to put marketing on hold. Bad idea. Valentine's Day sets a price on love
Roses are red, but they will cost you a little more green during their hallmark holiday.
They're the only flower marked up during Valentine's Day, local florist Elaine Nevarez said. This year, in particular, a dozen long-stem red roses cost 14 percent more this year, the highest jump among holiday treats, according to Houston Asset Management's annual Cost of Loving Index.
The language of flowers, herbs and trees: 71 plants and their meanings
People have long used specific flora to convey secret messages, here's how they let nature do their bidding. Specialization and the index of awesome
Amanda Thomsen writes: I’m a garden center addict. It’s true. And a few years ago, I decided I was going to make a website that had a total index of all of Chicago’s garden centers on it with brief descriptions of what they specialize in and also some reviews from customers. I never got around to making this site, because it’s a crazy idea that would take all my time and I had a baby instead. I’m pretty sure I made the right decision there, but I never stopped thinking about it.

For the past 40 years, every sales trainer and guru in the world has been teaching some variation on "solution selling."
As you're probably already aware, solution selling consists of solving a customer's problem rather than selling the customer a product. You ask questions to find out what's really needed and then propose a solution to satisfy those needs.

Why smart online marketing is about help, not hype
Marketing today is harder than marketing yesterday. And tomorrow? Tomorrow, marketing will be even harder, because the competition will be even greater.
Consumers are already being subjected to an invitation avalanche, with companies of every size, shape and description asking people to like them, follow them, friend them, click, share and "plus one" them.
Managing your online reputation
By Christina Thielst
Social channels provide tremendous opportunities to use your voice and find others with similar interests. Being on key social channels also makes it easy for customers, networkers and recruiters to find you and see if your education, skills, interests and goals match with their needs. However, careful consideration and management of one's reputation is imperative.
