New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo unveiled a $178 billion state budget proposal Tuesday that hinges on a plan to launch a team tasked with reining in the nation's largest Medicaid program.
The new Medicaid Redesign Team will be asked to find ways to trim $2.5 billion in spending from the program, Cuomo said.

Medicaid expansion is the big news for Labette County's Statehouse delegation in the 2020 Kansas Legislature, which opened a week ago.
The House passed a Medicaid expansion bill in 2019, but the Senate leadership did not allow a vote on it. In late 2019, state Sen. Jim Denning and Gov. Laura Kelly worked out compromise expansion language before the legislative session began. If passed in the Legislature, Kansas would become the 37th state to expand Medicaid under the 2010 federal Affordable Care Act.
