Study: Florida's Medicaid reform pilot is saving money

Healthcare plans in the Florida Medicaid Reform Pilot project have done a better job of controlling costs than Florida's traditional Medicaid program, according to a new University of Florida study. An initial estimation suggests the reform pilot reduced costs by about 18 percent had expenditures increased at the same rate as experienced in the nonreform counties.

CBO: Obamacare will cost 2.3 million workers

Mississippi Hospital Association pans Medicaid's managed care proposal

The Mississippi Hospital Association has come out against a state Division of Medicaid proposal to increase participation in managed care programs. David Dzielak, executive director of the Division of Medicaid, recently told members of the Senate Public Health and Welfare Committee that he wants to expand managed care beyond the 45 percent of recipients allowed now by law.

Virginia to decide whether to expand Medicaid within months

Virginia state lawmakers are in the midst of debating whether to expand Medicaid to an estimated 400,000 beneficiaries, and a decision will come by Feb. 16 when the Senate and House budgets are due. Poll finds support for Medicaid expansion in Virginia
The Washington Post
A majority of Virginia voters support expanding Medicaid as long as there are federal funds to pay for it, according to a new poll. The Wason Center at Christopher Newport University found that 56 percent of the state's registered voters back the expansion of the state-federal health program for the poor, but almost the same number — 54 percent — would oppose it if the federal government did not provide the promised funding.
