BRT proposal: Repeal health law's industry taxes
InsideHealthPolicy.com    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
The Business Roundtable on called for repeal of the health law's medical device, insurance and pharmaceutical taxes and enactment of medical liability reform as part of its recommendations to the president and Congress on ways to promote economic growth. BRT's Taking Action for America proposal — which also calls on Congress to balance the budget within five years by building upon prior bipartisan deficit reduction proposals — comes one day after the president told the BRT there is a need for continued reforms to the health system because it is still too expensive and the country must be able to sustain its aging population. CMS eyed applying Medicaid primary care pay bump to some services not paid for by Medicare
InsideHealthPolicy.com    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
CMS officials previously signaled that a provision of the health reform law requiring states to pay at least Medicare rates for certain primary care services under Medicaid in 2013 and 2014 would apply to some pediatric service codes that are billed for in Medicaid and not recognized by Medicare for payment, according to a source closely following the issue. Physicians are anxiously awaiting to see if that position is reflected in the agency's upcoming Medicaid primary care payment proposed rule, now undergoing White House review. More
