A glitch in Obamacare marketplace no one noticed
The Inquirer
Nearly six months after the disastrous launch of Healthcare.gov, with the website running smoothly and more than 5 million people signed up as open enrollment heads to a close, a new glitch has come to light: Incorrect poverty-level guidelines are automatically telling what could be tens of thousands of eligible people they do not qualify for subsidized insurance.

Ohio GOP governor: Medicaid expansion is a conservative ideal
The Hill
Ohio GOP Gov. John Kasich is defending his decision to expand Medicaid in the state, saying the move is a logical reflection of conservative values. "I think it's entirely consistent with conservative and Republican philosophy, and I'm really pleased we"re doing it," Kasich, who's often mentioned as a possible 2016 presidential contender, said in a recent interview.

New Hampshire next in line to adopt Arkansas-type Medicaid expansion model

New Hampshire is lining up to be the next state to expand Medicaid, with the state House poised to pass a program expansion bill after the measure was approved by the New Hampshire Senate in early March. The bill would allow the state to use federal Medicaid funds to buy low-income residents private coverage through insurance exchanges, using a similar model to that pursued by Arkansas.

Healthy Michigan Medicaid expansion to launch April 1; enrollment instructions coming soon

Michigan will start taking applications for its expanded Medicaid program on April 1. State officials had said it might not be ready until later in the month but recently announced that all systems are go for the program that's expected to cover 320,000 Michiganders in the first year.

Study: States refusing Medicaid expansion would benefit the most

There are more than 15 million uninsured or underinsured people living below the poverty line in the 23 states that have refused to expand Medicaid under Obamacare, according to a new study by The Commonwealth Fund. Many of these states have among the highest rates of uninsured or underinsured people in the country, the study found.

Biden: GOP governors will eventually take Medicaid expansion

Vice President Joe Biden predicted that Republican governors who have declined the federal Medicaid expansion will eventually be forced to reverse course and take the expansion because of political pressure. Speaking to the National Association of Community Health Centers in Washington, D.C., Biden criticized the GOP governors who have declined the extra funding but said he expects them to come around.

Florida senator's secret Medicaid expansion plan won't work

Florida is one of 24 states that hasn't joined Obamacare's Medicaid expansion, which would cover about 1.3 million uninsured adults in the state and bring in about $51 billion in federal funds over the next decade. Only Texas stands to benefit more from the Medicaid expansion. Florida Sen. Bill Nelson said he's talking with federal health officials on a plan to go around the state legislature, which strongly opposes expanding Medicaid. But federal officials say their hands are tied.

AIDS group to pharma CEO: Lower your prices, or lower your pay
