GOP files bills limiting IRS oversight of Obamacare

House Republicans have introduced separate bills aimed at scaling back the Internal Revenue Service's involvement with implementation of Obamacare. Virginia Rep. Randy Forbes and Georgia Rep. Tom Price said their bills are needed in the wake of the IRS' confirmation that it applied extra scrutiny to conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status.

Most doctors still waiting on Medicaid pay raise

Five months after primary care doctors who treat Medicaid patients were supposed get a big pay raise, most physicians have yet to see it. Only three states have implemented the pay raise — Nevada, Michigan and Massachusetts — according to the American Academy of Family Physicians.

House to vote on Obamacare repeal

The House will vote to repeal President Barack Obama's healthcare law. Spoiler alert: The bill will pass. The healthcare law will not be repealed. The real question surrounding the vote is whether it will open the door to a more targeted focus on specific provisions in the healthcare law, such as the tax on medical devices or the controversial new panel tasked with slowing the growth in Medicare spending.

Arizona Senate debates Brewer's plan to expand healthcare program for poor

Dueling rallies at the Capitol over expansion of Medicaid eligibility foreshadowed what's expected to be a long, vitriolic fight in the Arizona Senate about the future of Arizona's healthcare program for the poor. Gov. Jan Brewer's Medicaid plan is expected to be offered as an amendment to a budget-related bill during debate on the fiscal 2014 spending plan, which is scheduled to begin this morning, officially putting the enormous healthcare policy package in play and moving the governor one step closer to realizing her top legislative priority.

Health experts on Medicaid rejection: 'Bad for business'

The Florida legislature's decision against expanding Medicaid will saddle the state's employers with higher healthcare costs and was "bad for business," health care experts told business leaders. Florida corporations have been "too quiet" about Medicaid expansion and other health care issues, and should make elected officials aware of their displeasure before the damage gets worse, said William Kramer, a national health policy leader in San Francisco who works with corporations.
