The Hill
The Trump administration announced Tuesday it would distribute $25 billion to health providers caring for Medicaid patients following weeks of pressure from lawmakers and advocates.
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had come under fire for its slow pace in sending out billions of dollars in coronavirus relief funds to providers in the safety net program, even as clinics and hospitals cut back services, lay off staff or shut down altogether.

Missouri remains one of only 15 (primarily conservative) states that have chosen not to expand Medicaid to include people up to 138% of the poverty level.
A successful initiative petition in Missouri got the issue placed on the November ballot, after which Gov. Mike Parson scheduled the vote for August.
Despite Republican arguments that expanding the program could be devastating to the state's budget, separate studies released over the past week have shown expansion in other states has decreased costs.
The recently released reports show expansion will not only positively affect the state's economy, it will also improve overall health.

The Missouri Supreme Court decided Wednesday not to take up a lawsuit seeking to block a proposal to expand Medicaid health care from going before voters, meaning it will stay on the August ballot.
Conservative groups Americans for Prosperity-Missouri and United for Missouri sued to take the measure off the ballot, claiming it appropriates money without providing a new revenue source.

The Athens News
Gov. Mike DeWine announced in early May that Ohio would be cutting more than $200 million to Medicaid due to budgetary woes amid the coronavirus pandemic — and those cuts might be felt in Athens County.
While the Athens County Job & Family Services has been assured that the recent cuts won't directly affect local services, former director Jack Frech is concerned the reductions may still hurt local healthcare providers that are emerging following a few bleak months.
