Majority of Americans oppose health insurer fee

According to a new bipartisan poll on health reform, a majority of Americans oppose the Health Insurance Tax. MHPA's interim executive director Joe Moser comments on this finding and the effect of the insurer fee on consumers, state Medicaid programs and Medicaid beneficiaries.

Medicaid expansion: Michigan House panel approves plan; more votes
likely soon

A proposal to expand Medicaid under federal health care law has cleared its first hurdle in the Republican-led Michigan legislature. The House's Michigan Competitiveness Committee advanced House Bill 4714 by a 9-5 vote — sending the measure to the House floor.

David Bronner says Alabama governor 'irresponsible' on Medicaid

The head of the pension funds for Alabama's state workers accused Gov. Robert Bentley of acting irresponsibly by refusing to expand Alabama's Medicaid program. David Bronner, the longtime CEO of the Retirement Systems of Alabama, told members of the Tuscaloosa Rotary Club that Alabama is one of 14 states with conservative Republican governors who have refused to accept federal dollars to expand their Medicaid programs.
