New funding to improve care coordination for Medicare-Medicaid enrollees
Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Administration for Community Living (ACL) have announced a new funding opportunity designed to enhance CMS' Financial Alignment Initiative, designed to improve coordination of care for Medicare-Medicaid enrollees. This funding opportunity will support states in developing independent ombudsman programs, helping beneficiaries in the demonstration have a positive care experience.

Pence team not working on Medicaid expansion alternative in Indiana

With just three months until millions of low-income Americans start signing up for an expanded Medicaid program, the Pence administration revealed it has yet to begin talking with the federal government about creating an Indiana alternative. Indiana Gov. Mike Pence has refused to expand Medicaid eligibility as directed by the Affordable Care Act because he believes the federal government will not keep its promises to adequately fund the program.

Michigan Senate workgroup to study Medicaid proposal

A proposal to expand Medicaid eligibility in Michigan isn't dead yet, and a Senate Republican workgroup hopes to breathe new life into the debate. Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville recently announced formation of a six-member group that will study the issue and seek ways to "improve upon" legislation approved by the House.

Mississippi lawmakers start Medicaid special session

A special session of the Mississippi legislature called by Gov. Phil Bryant to try to prevent the Medicaid program from "expiring" quickly brought emotional — and sometimes tearful — testimony and debate from lawmakers. Rep.
