Obamacare supporter backs bill to repeal insurance tax
The Hill
West Virginia Rep. Nick Rahall on July 17 became the first lawmaker who voted in favor of Obamacare to back a bill repealing the law's new insurance tax. Rahall signed on to the bipartisan repeal bill July 16, becoming its 226th cosponsor, according to public records.

Going on the offensive, Obama to tout Affordable Care Act

Medicaid pay raise for doctors? Not in Georgia, not yet

The long-delayed Medicaid pay raise for primary care physicians is expected to begin this summer for almost all states, Kaiser Health News reported, quoting a federal agency spokeswoman. Georgia, however, won't be among them. The projected date for physicians in Georgia to get the pay bump is November, according to the state Medicaid agency.

Michigan Medicaid expansion debate delayed in Senate; vote still weeks away

The Michigan Medicaid expansion debate in the Senate will have to wait for at least a couple of weeks. The Senate work group is meeting privately twice a week to look at and tweak the expansion bill passed by the House of Representatives in June.

West Virginia governor has more questions on Medicaid, exchanges

West Virginia Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin sent HHS more questions on the Affordable Care Act. In his letter, Tomblin wrote, "It remains a critical concern that the currently incomplete rules and guidance will not support a successful implementation of the federal mandated PPACA."

Large insurers opt out of health exchange in Missouri

When the new health exchange opens for business in Missouri on Oct. 1, at least three major health insurers will not be participating. UnitedHealthcare, the nation's largest insurer, said that it won't offer insurance policies this fall in the federally run health exchange in Missouri, but may enter the exchange later.
