Missouri voters will decide whether to expand Medicaid via ballot initiative in what could be yet another blow to the Trump administration and its anti-Obamacare health policy. A vote in Missouri to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act would be seen as a huge blow to the Trump administration, which has made repealing the law a signature part of its first three years in office.
Missouri voters will get the chance to decide whether to expand Medicaid to low-income residents. A ballot measure calls for enshrining Medicaid expansion in the deep red state's constitution, which would make it harder for legislators to throw up hurdles to enrollment, such as work requirements. The Trump administration and many Republican state officials have sought to add work requirements, premiums and other mandates to Medicaid, which make it more difficult for folks to qualify for coverage.

The economists who met last week to discuss the enrollment trends amid the COVID-19 pandemic did not estimate the costs associated with the surge in enrollment. They will meet to look at the financial impact.
