Wisconsin submits Medicaid waiver request reducing eligibility to 100 percent federal poverty level

The Wisconsin Department of Health has submitted an 1115 waiver request to CMS that would limit Medicaid eligibility for childless adults to those with incomes at or below 100 percent of the federal poverty level. Because of the Affordable Care Act, Wisconsin wants to encourage childless adults making at least 100 percent of poverty to go to the exchange to get subsidized health insurance.

New Hampshire officials, hospital executives to study possible Medicaid Enhancement Tax reforms

Lawmakers don't know yet if New Hampshire's Medicaid Enhancement Tax should be tweaked, overhauled or even replaced. But as a study commission began its work, there was agreement on one thing: The Medicaid tax, which has generated about $2.4 billion for the state government's general fund since its creation in 1991, needs to be fixed.

Black marks hover over firm Illinois taps for part of Medicaid program

Illinois is outsourcing part of its Medicaid program to a company that is under a federal grand jury investigation in Louisiana, was disqualified from bidding in Arkansas, was ushered out of Maine and has been the subject of complaints in Utah. The black marks against the company, including its firing in Louisiana in March, haven't deterred Illinois officials, who say they are confident of their recently announced plan to use the company's services through a partnership with Michigan.
