Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) is optimistic that the newest ObamaCare repeal bill can gain enough traction among Senate lawmakers to pass in the upper chamber. "We're certainly getting close [to 51 votes]," Johnson said recently on CNN's "New Day."

If Senate Republicans vote to repeal Obamacare before the end of the month, they'll be flying blind — not knowing the impact their plan will have on insurance coverage or premium costs, budget scorekeepers said recently.
The Congressional Budget Office will only have a bare-bones assessment of the latest GOP bill ready before Sept. 30, the deadline for Senate Republicans to pass healthcare legislation on a party-line vote.

The latest Affordable Care Act repeal and replacement bill, sponsored by Sens. Bill Cassidy, Lindsey Graham, Dean Heller and Ron Johnson, would both reduce and redistribute federal healthcare funding to the states. And that would create clear winners and losers among states. The left-leaning Center on Budget and Policy Priorities ran the numbers to figure out how each state would fare.

A deal breaker recently may not be a deal breaker in September.
The latest Obamacare overhaul bill gaining steam on Capitol Hill slashes health-care spending more deeply and would likely cover fewer people than a recent bill that failed precisely because of such concerns. Gov. Terry McAuliffe estimated recently that Virginia would lose $1.2 billion in federal funding for its Medicaid program over the next seven years under legislation proposed in U.S. Senate to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
McAuliffe said the new proposal — known as the Graham-Cassidy-Heller-Johnson bill — would harm the state in the same way as previous legislation to repeal the health care law that was approved in the House of Representatives and defeated in the U.S. Senate this year.

With the state’s cash running low, Gov. Wolf recently said he was forced to withhold nearly $1.2 billion in payments to Medicaid program providers.
In a short statement, the governor said his administration will be unable for at least a week to make the payments to managed care organizations, the private health insurers that cover many of the state’s neediest children, elderly, and disabled residents. Insurance industry officials said Wolf’s move is unlikely to interrupt services for Medicaid recipients but could affect the business side.

Hospital pharmacist Mandy Langston remembers when Lulabelle Berry arrived at Stone County Medical Center’s emergency department last year.
Berry couldn’t talk. Her face was drooping on one side. Her eyes couldn’t focus. Berry, 78, was having a severe ischemic stroke. Each passing second made brain damage more likely. So, Langston reached for the clot-busting drug Activase, which must be given within a few hours to work.
