MHPA 2013: new Medicaid Director panelist, more hotel

Stephen Groff, Delaware's Medicaid director, has confirmed that he will participate in the State Medicaid Directors Panel, moderated by NAMD's Matt Salo. He joins Arizona's Tom Betlach on the discussion panel. The session is at 9 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 21.

Uninsured find more success via health exchanges run by states
The New York Times
Robyn J. Skrebes of Minneapolis said she was able to sign up for health insurance in about two hours using the website of the state-run insurance exchange in Minnesota, known as MNsure. Skrebes, 32 and uninsured, said she had selected a policy costing $179 a month, before tax credit subsidies, and also had obtained Medicaid coverage for her 2-year-old daughter.

HHS: Obamacare wait times cut by one-third

The Health and Human Services Department said that it has made progress toward fixing the long waits and technical problems that have hampered Obamacare's new insurance exchanges. HHS has added capacity to the healthcare.gov website since unveiling it on Oct. 1, when overwhelming demand locked consumers out of the site.
