Nebraska gets federal approval to limit Medicaid benefits, but challenge in court is likely
Omaha World-Herald
Nebraska got federal approval Tuesday to implement a two-tiered system of benefits for most Medicaid expansion patients.
The announcement means that low-income, working age adults will have to meet special requirements to get dental, vision and over-the-counter medication, which are automatically part of traditional Medicaid. Those benefits will not be available for at least another year.

Federal government approves Georgia's alternative to full Medicaid expansion
Washington Examiner via MSN
Kemp said the waivers will reform health care in the state, which has one of the country's highest uninsured rates at 14.8%. The proposal – Georgia Pathways and Access – will help close the coverage gap for hundreds of thousands of Georgians, the governor said.
"Georgia Pathways and Access will provide access to health care insurance for thousands of hardworking Georgians and lower premiums for millions more," Kemp said. "This bold, innovative approach will lower the uninsured rate, spur competition in the marketplace, enhance the shopping experience for consumers, and improve health outcomes."

NC Medicaid extends support to providers to help maintain access to services during COVID-19
WNCN-TV
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Division of Health Benefits (NC Medicaid) is extending temporary provider rate increases related to COVID-19 through the end of the federal COVID-19 public health emergency, which goes through Jan. 21, 2021.
This action will extend all COVID-19 rate increases currently in place, which means every Medicaid provider will continue to receive rates that are at least 5% greater than pre-COVID levels and some providers, such as nursing homes, who are experiencing very high additional costs due to COVID-19 will continue to receive even greater financial support.

In Missouri, cost of Medicaid expansion remains a mystery
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
When Republican Gov. Mike Parson announced he was moving a statewide vote on Medicaid expansion to the August primary, he said he wanted the vote to happen as fast as possible to help officials deal with potential cost increases.
The governor, who opposed the ballot initiative, denied his use of his executive power was an attempt to defeat the proposal by moving it to the lower turnout primary election.

Medicaid expansion separates Forest and Cooper in campaign for governor
The News & Observer
The coronavirus pandemic has put a spotlight on an issue that would be part of campaign season in North Carolina anyway: health care. And more specifically, Medicaid expansion.
Expanding Medicaid to as many as half a million more North Carolinians was at the center of the 2019 budget battle between Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper and the Republican-led state legislature, particularly the Senate. Cooper and other Democrats wanted Medicaid expansion like 39 other states. Republican leadership did not.
