Lawmakers snub governor's Healthy Utah plan, recommend modest Medicaid expansion

Utah lawmakers dealt a setback to the governor's Healthy Utah alternative to expanding Medicaid. The legislature's Health Reform Task Force chose not to recommend the plan to the full legislature, instead picking two other options to cover many fewer Utahns, and only if they are "medically vulnerable." Rep. Jim Dunnigan called it a "good, measured approach."

New Senate budget chairman is big Obamacare foe

The Senate's new budget leader has a record of aggressively seeking to defund Obamacare, an ominous sign for the president's healthcare law under a GOP-controlled chamber. Wyoming Sen. Florida silent on children's health insurance program future
Miami Herald
A bipartisan group of governors from 39 states is supporting extended federal funding of the Children's Health Insurance Program, or CHIP, which covers more than 8 million kids and their families nationwide, including about 400,000 children in Florida. But Florida Gov. Rick Scott has not joined the chorus.

Feds reject Louisiana's Medicaid drug payment formula
The Associated Press via The Town Talk
Louisiana used an improper reimbursement formula to pay pharmacists for the last two years through the state's Medicaid program, the federal Medicaid agency informed state officials this week. If the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services decides it wants Louisiana to reimburse the payments, the state could be on the hook for up to $25 million in repayments.
