From May 31: Have you ever worked out your face? An eyebrow-raising beauty trend, called a microcurrent facial, aims to do just that.
The noninvasive treatment involves zapping your face with tiny electrical currents to stimulate, tone and tighten facial muscles.
The electrical stimulation technology behind the microcurrent facial has been used in partnership with various treatments for patients afflicted with Bell's palsy, a sudden paralysis or weakness of facial muscles that causes one side of your face to appear to droop. Now the technology is making waves in the cosmetic field.
Yet some experts question its effectiveness.

From July 11: Acid peels. Massaging our cheeks with tiny needle rollers. Going through the pain of peeling off one of those sticky black face masks (don't use them, please). So it's not too surprising that the current crystal trend has extended to our faces.
The hot new anti-ageing trick on the block? Rubbing crystals on your face, apparently.

From July 6: Pink salt is everywhere: in salt grinders, craggy-looking lamps, sunset-hued slabs designed for cooking steak and even in "salt rooms" at spas. But is pink Himalayan salt worth all the attention? We checked out the science behind this recent health phenomenon.

From July 11: As a teen, the only thing I knew about spa facials was what I'd seen in "Legally Blonde." In the film, Elle and Emmett found the snobby Mrs. Windham Vandermark at a spa in a fancy, remote location, where she and other rich middle-aged women paid hundreds of dollars to lay wrapped like mummies, cucumbers over their eyes. Of course, that spa is an exaggeration of the real thing, but its depiction is indicative of an obstacle the industry faces: the idea that the spa is an exclusive, elitist hallmark of our mothers' generation; inaccessible, unwelcoming, and demanding of our time and finances.

From June 13: We're always searching for the "fountain of youth," whether it's in lotions, potions or in-office treatments that claim to turn back the hands of time. Researchers are hard at work trying to figure out the secret to slowing skin aging, and with each report that gets published, they get closer and closer.

From May 2: These muscles work hard but don't carry, lift or move the body. Learning to exercise and relax these muscles can take years off your look, reduce headaches and bring ease to your body and mind. Though it's easy to forget about them, they're visible to everyone you meet. I'm talking about facial muscles. So while you keep your body in shape, make sure to include your face. The facial muscles respond to emotions and thoughts more so than other voluntary muscles in the body.

Allure
From June 13: In the Allure September issue, we took a vow to no longer use the term "anti-aging" in all of our lexicon. Aging is the natural progression of humans — it's just what happens. "If there's one inevitability in life, it's that we're getting older. Every minute. Every second," Michelle Lee, Allure's editor-in-chief, wrote in her September issue editor's letter. "We produced a video recently that featured 64-year-old gray-haired Jo Johnson, who made the poignant observation that aging should be appreciated because "some of us don't get an opportunity to age." Repeat after me: Growing older is a wonderful thing because it means that we get a chance, every day, to live a full, happy life." But just because we're aging doesn't mean we can't take care of ourselves in the process.

From June 27: Facials are far beyond an hour of liberal spoiling. They have tremendous advantages to the well-being and health of your skin — both in the short and long haul. When you consider the majority of the customary visits you make (dental specialist, hair salon, rec center), you'll understand you should concentrate some of that time on your skin as well. Here are 10 reasons why you ought to get facials routinely.

From June 20: Living in Colorado in 2017 means hearing about marijuana daily: the medicinal benefits, new grow operations, and (let's face it) the recreational puff-puff pass, are all the rage right now. What we don't hear much about, however, is the actual hemp plant — a specific variety of Cannabis with myriad uses from health products to construction materials. So when we heard that Nature’s Root spa, the world's first-ever hemp spa opened outside of Denver (with plans to open new locations in New York, Oregon, and Jamaica) we had to check it out.

From March 7: Cupping made headlines during the 2016 Rio Olympics, when Michael Phelps attributed the round, purple bruises on his back to the alternative medicine practice used to treat everything from muscle soreness to arthritis and blood diseases. Now, celebrities are getting the skin-suctioning therapy on a new part of their bodies: their faces.

From Aug. 1: If you hear the word "cannabis," do your thoughts turn to edibles or a debate about the merits of Premium Jack versus Grape Stomper?
Sure, years of popular movies, TV shows and music have elevated the stoner stereotype to the top of the pop culture heap. But cannabis is making its mark in another arena, and the utterance that caught your attention may have pertained to hairstyling products, soaps or body lotions.
The beauty world is embracing cannabis like never before.
