How COVID-19 hit the beauty market
Nutritional Outlook
Among COVID-19's lengthening list of casualties is apparently the "lipstick index" — that handy heuristic cooked up by cosmetic giant Leonard Lauder to gauge consumer demand in tough times. The premise: No matter how tight belts got, women would still shell out for the small luxury of a name-brand lipstick.
But with face masks hiding all but our bloodshot eyes and worried foreheads, who needs lipstick these days? Perhaps in an age of pandemic, it’s hand moisturizer, acne cleanser, and soothing botanical masks we should be stockpiling.

2020 stress has taught most Americans the value of self-care
Study Finds
For many people, taking care of friends and family leaves them with very little time to care for the person who often needs it the most — themselves. Thankfully, a new survey finds more than seven in 10 Americans (73%) were more conscious of needing self-care in 2020. In fact, 69% plan to do more self-care in 2021 than they did in the previous year. Commissioned by wellness software company Vagaro and conducted by OnePoll, the new survey asked 2,000 Americans to examine their self-care habits and the possibility of whether they see themselves investing in self-care more in the future.

Businesses plan for the future despite a tremendously difficult 2020
By Sumit De
The year behind us was tremendously difficult. The obstacles we faced because of COVID-19 left most of us on edge, exhausted, and seeking solutions to unprecedented problems. The only obvious benefit of the pandemic is that it happened when it did, not 10, five, or even three years ago. Because of ongoing digital transformation across the globe, most economies were able to respond. Businesses stripped of their ability to operate face-to-face jumped online. Some of these efforts were smoother than others, but most soon navigated through the clumsiness and established streamlined remote-based operational processes.
