In Los Angeles, we've pretty much heard it all when it comes to weird earthy-crunchy beauty remedies (snail slime, for one) and out-there experiments (Gwyneth Paltrow's bee-stinging experience). But there's something America has not seen until just now: ostrich egg yolk used in skin care formulas. Considering the other wacky things women in Hollywood put on their faces — bovine or even human stem cells and sheep placenta — it shouldn't seem that weird. Still, the concept of yolk from an egg, no matter who laid it, seems a little crazy.

A recently published review article summarized research studies that highlight the impacts of health retreats, on their effects on health and well-being.
Chronic diseases, which are caused by different lifestyle factors, are a serious global health concern and contribute to an estimated 60 percent of deaths all over the world according to the World Health Organization. Changing lifestyle factors such as alcohol consumption, exposure to environmental toxins, tobacco consumption and reducing the consumption of foods that are high in salt and fat can improve the symptoms associated with many chronic diseases. A new study found that women in groups are rated as more attractive than those alone.

Furthermore, according to the researchers, it didn't matter where in a group you stand or how attractive others are.

Volcanoes.
What have they done for you lately? Wait, don't answer that.
Not until you've seen this new hotel with steam rooms and wine cellars carved into ancient lava flows.
It's the Retreat at Blue Lagoon, an all-but-floating Icelandic hotel where your becoming relaxed appears totally plausible.
The lagoon itself is a manmade, though long-existing, geothermal spa that has earned worldwide fame for its mineral-rich waters. And now you can finally sleep on top of it, thanks to this tranquil 62-suite property that has no shortage of tastefully designed Nordic furniture or floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking strangely beautiful lava fields.

Strategy and Business
The idea that companies may unwittingly use inefficient processes and pursue poorly focused strategies is not new. Corporate history is littered with examples of businesses being too slow to spot redundancy and incumbents being put out of business by nimbler new entrants.
But what if this phenomenon could be explained by a simple concept? Perhaps companies have allowed bad habits to creep in, and just don’t know it. Furthermore, what if bad habits are so ingrained that executives have lost sight of what defines best practices? Or are blind to the possibility of being disrupted?

Customer service is the new marketing. This statement may sound suspect coming from me, a customer service consultant; it sounds like an example of “when you have a hammer, every problem looks like a nail” thinking on my part, or even the "drunk looking for his keys under the lamppost because that’s where there’s light" phenomenon.

"Thinking...the talking of the soul with itself." — Plato. It is astounding that all those years ago, Plato had it figured out. Constant thoughts circulate in our minds on a daily basis, but are we slaves to our minds? Are we constantly trying to drown out the noise? Do we try to hush our thoughts so we can carry on with our day-to day routines? Perhaps the healthier way to live is to think of our minds as an instrument that we can learn to master. At what age is it possible to learn to be the master of your own mind? As school teachers, we believe children can learn at a very young age to become familiar with their mind and how it thinks.
