NCEA Certified is the professional status awarded to a skin care professional that has met the competency standards as set-forth by NCEA's 1200 Hour Esthetician Job Task Analysis. It represents the highest skin care credential available in the United States and adherence to the code of ethics of the profession.
Those who choose to become NCEA Certified do so for a variety of reasons, including:
Commitment to career and the industry.
Desire to challenge skill level and knowledge base.
Commitment to personal growth and continuous learning.
A move to another state where the hours of training are higher than what they received in school.
State endorsement/reciprocity requirement to attain advanced licensure.
The reasons also vary with a person's age, longevity in the field and future plans. An added benefit is that NCEA Certified estheticians on average, earn more than their noncertified counterparts. Those who are committed to personal growth are more likely to have the self confidence to seek increasing levels of responsibility and, therefore, higher incomes. Regardless of the reason — it's a good investment in yourself. The NCEA Certified designation could mean the difference between getting or missing out on your next promotion or position. Certification better prepares the skin care professional for today's job market and helps you be better equipped to respond to the constantly changing demands and advances within our profession.

Spa grows from medical practice
Rocky Mount Telegram
The husband-and-wife team of Drs. Jennifer Yap and Alvin Antony did not start out with plans to open a full-service spa when they opened Carolina Sports and Spine clinic several years ago.
Little did they know then that the spa would evolve from the medical practice.
Today in the same office, they operate True Radiance Medispa, which promotes a full range of services and the fact that medical doctors operate it.
The problem of green washing in the spa industry
By Beatrice (Vallant) Hochegger
This article aims to reveal a downside and challenge that goes hand-in-hand with being "green" — and not only the spa industry, but every industry. We are talking about the phenomenon of green washing. What is green washing all about? Green washing happens when a company or other group promotes environmental green-based images or initiatives but actually operates in a way that is harmful to the environment or in an opposite attitude to the aim of the announced initiatives. But how does green washing affect the spa industry?
"Achieving the NCEA Certified credential marks another milestone in my professional development. It has taken my knowledge and level of service to a higher level. I am happy to be NCEA Certified!"

What has changed though, are the rules to achieving genuine customer satisfaction.
How do pricing strategies affect profitability?
By Danielle Wegert
Consumers desire value in purchases. They want the price they pay for a product to be equal to or less than what they feel they get out of that product. Businesses desire profit from the services or products offered. How can your business achieve profitability while also maintaining a satisfied customer base? Pricing strategies. When was the last time you reviewed your pricing strategies? Have you looked at the data to determine the success of each strategy? Many companies have pricing strategies already implemented; however, they may not be the most effective.

3 reasons your marketing didn't go viral
Inc.
Viral marketing: What more could you ask for? You've seen it happen with big companies and small, when an ad or a video or a post suddenly shows up everywhere. It's practical ubiquity, baby, and it can make your cash register go ka-ching. But despite the hype, chances are overwhelmingly good that most of your material, even if it picks up a lot of interest, doesn't hit the big time. But why? You're good to your parents, work hard and floss after meals. The problem you face is that, in raw numbers, only a very small percentage of marketing goes viral.
Is your marketing capturing your customers' dreams?
Business 2 Community
To please the new breed of customer, you must trigger their emotional impulses, which override their rational thinking. Companies must sell products and services that appeal to the dreams of their customers. You cannot rely on market analysis, consumer studies or product clinics alone. You need to be able to capture your customers' imagination.
