Many men struggle with baldness and wonder about new treatments. Some shampoos and lotions contain caffeine and promise to help keep hair thick and full. How does the evidence stack up? A 2014 study found that caffeine has a "potent" effect in growing hair in laboratory conditions. But real-world tests of the efficacy of caffeine-containing shampoos and lotions are rare, and those that have been done show a modest effect.

Many of us believe women in leadership roles should be like men — whether we will admit this or not. Certainly, this view has gained support in research of successful leaders. Those females who have characteristics traditionally attributed to males (i.e., competitive, ambitious, assertive, etc.) will be perceived as more effective than women who do not have these traits. We call this type of woman Machiavellian Mary. She plays well in the "male" game of pyramidal hierarchies.

Marketing is not what it used to be, not even a little bit. Long gone are the days of gimmicks, clever phrasing and seduction. The well of false enchantment has run dry. Consumers stare down attempts at persuasion and flashy advertising because they expect authenticity from corporations and individuals alike. This shift in consumer expectations comes on the back of the digital revolution and unilateral skepticism toward companies and their products.

Therapeutic advances in oncology have not fully translated to the treatment of metastatic disease, which remains largely incurable. Metastatic subclones can emerge both early and late in the life of the primary tumor. A better understanding of the genetic evolution of metastatic disease has the potential to reveal differences in the therapeutic vulnerabilities of primary and metastatic tumors, shed light on the temporal patterns of and routes to metastatic colonization, and provide insight into the biology of the metastatic process.

In math, the Rule of Three is a method of finding a ratio. In English essay writing, the Rule of Three states that things are more interesting to read in triads. In presentations, the Rule of Three comes in handy to keep the audience engaged, and in entertainment, the idea of trebling makes jokes and gags funnier. As it turns out, economists, chemists, aviators, and scuba divers use the Rule of Three.

The Esthetician's Role In A Medical Office
Presented by Terri Wojak
This educational activity has been approved for 1.0 CEs.
About the course: Working in a medical office is much different than working in a salon or spa. Not only are the treatments at a higher grade, there are many more regulations to abide by, as well as certain professional obligations to withhold. The level of professionalism will likely be at a higher standard as well. We will teach how the acronym "CHARGED" can guarantee an esthetician is professional in the workplace. CHARGED stands for Clothing, HIPAA, Advice, Responsibility, Gossip, Education, and Demeanor and is a fundamental component to any esthetician working in a medical office.
At the conclusion of this presentation the teacher will be able to:
- Provide an overview of the legalities of estheticians working with physicians.
- Explain the roles an esthetician may fill in a medical setting.
- Explain how an esthetician can build business in a medical office.
- Demonstrate the importance of professionalism in the student's career.
