'Urine therapy' is a real beauty trend
Marie Claire
Let us just say, we don't condone bathroom talk. But if there are beauty benefits to reap, we're all ears.
So, funny thing, it has come to our attention that there are a slew of natural health care devotees who believe that urine is the best kept secret for glowing skin and a line-free face. As ridiculous (and unsavory) a concept it may be, let us pose it to you like this: French women took urine baths in the 18th century — so there must be something to it. Plus, chances are that urine has already worked itself into your skincare regimen.

Spa Opportunities
Contrary to popular belief, a higher proportion of over-60-year-old consumers use facial and body moisturizers without explicit anti-aging claims than those who use products with rejuvenating properties, according to Euromonitor International's latest study: Challenges and Opportunities in Targeting the Senior Consumer.

Minimizing pores actually is possible
Yahoo Beauty
In the summer, when your pores seem to be holding onto excess sebum the way "Hoarders" subjects cling to newspapers, keeping blackheads at bay is its own special project. We caught up with cosmetic dermatologist and founder of 5th Avenue Dermatology Surgery and Laser Center Dr. Paul Jarrod Frank to find out just how often we should exfoliate, which ingredients to use and avoid and which in-office treatments will keep our pores tiny and clear.

The leadership behavior that's most important to employees
Harvard Business Review
Associate professor at Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business Christine Porath writes: "For the last 20 years, I've studied the costs of incivility, as well as the benefits of civility. Across the board, I've found that civility pays. It enhances your influence and performance — and is positively associated with being perceived as a leader. Being respectful doesn't just benefit you, though; it benefits everyone around you. In a study of nearly 20,000 employees around the world (conducted with HBR), I found that when it comes to garnering commitment and engagement from employees, there's one thing that leaders need to demonstrate: respect."
4 reasons why email marketing is an asset for all small businesses
Mashable
Marketing has come a long way in the four-and-a-half decades since the first email was delivered. Advances like social media and search engine marketing have left businesses with no shortage of channels to leverage in order to reach their target demographic. Why then, in this era of real-time socially driven marketing, do businesses continue to feature email as a staple of their marketing strategy?
Taking the pain out of personalized marketing
By Peter Moloney
Predictive analytics improves marketing results. That's hard to dispute these days, but it's not quite right. Relevant messaging and attractive offers improve marketing results. Predictive analytics has the "potential" to help. It's only potential because there is so much involved in doing it right. There is a broad diversity of algorithms and approaches for all sorts of purposes. As a result, most companies enlist skilled data specialists and find themselves clarifying their objectives because the typical approach is going to be expensive. But it does not have to be anymore.

Setting the microneedling record straight
Skin Inc.
By now, most estheticians have been bombarded with a myriad of information about skin needling. First, let me start off by saying that we are advocates of skin needling, finding it to be an efficacious process for improving the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and scars. However, using needling devices in the United States is fraught with legal issues.

What's written on your face
The New Yorker
Recently, as part of its annual Build Developer Conference, Microsoft unveiled a little experiment in machine learning: a website that can guess the age and gender of faces in a photograph. The creators of the demonstration had been hoping — "optimistically," they wrote — to lure in fifty or so members of the public to help test the software.

Developing a teaching persona
Faculty Focus
Dr. Maryellen Weimer writes: An email query about teaching personas reminded me how much I haven't figured out about our teaching identities. I'm still struggling with very basic questions and wondered if a conversation here might not get us all thinking more about how we present ourselves as teachers. In "The Art of Teaching," Jay Parini explains that the Latin word persona implies that a voice is discovered by "sounding through" a mask.
