New Jersey's smallest businesses feeling the economic pain of the coronavirus can begin applying on Friday for small grants offered by the New Jersey Economic Development Authority.
The EDA last week approved about $40 million in grants, loans and loan guarantees to small and mid-size New Jersey businesses, many of which have been ordered to close or drastically scale back their operations as part of the state's effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

Because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the upcoming NJSME General Membership Meeting, featuring NJDOT Local Aid, has been postponed in order to comply with CDC recommendations. The meeting originally was scheduled to take place Wednesday, April 1, at The Palace at Somerset (333 Davidson Ave.) in Somerset.
NJSME apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused.

The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a Domestic Travel Advisory for the states of New Jersey, New York and Connecticut due to the increase of cases of COVID-19.
According to the CDC website, the department urges residents of these three states to refrain from any non-essential domestic travel for the next 14 days "effective immediately."

The coronavirus pandemic has caused more than one out of four contractors to halt or delay work on current projects, according to a survey released by the Associated General Contractors of America. The survey results show how quickly market conditions have changed compared to data showing a majority of metro areas added construction jobs through January. Association officials noted that a relief bill the Senate is considering includes some favorable tax and loan provisions. But they said the bill also needs new infrastructure investments and improvements to the new paid sick and family medical leave measures.
