The governor of New Jersey has unveiled plans to develop what is being described as the United States' "first purpose-built offshore wind port," with construction work on the $300 million to $400 million project scheduled to begin next year.
It's expected that building work will involve two phases. The first will focus on the development of a 30-acre area for marshalling activities as well as a manufacturing site for components that will span 25 acres. The second will extend the scheme's footprint by more than 150 acres.

House Democrats on June 22 released the detailed legislative text of a measure that would combine highway, transit and rail provisions with funding increases for other infrastructure such as drinking water, wastewater treatment, schools, broadband and housing. It also funds clear energy programs and has other climate change-related provisions. In a critical addition, the new $1.5 trillion Moving Forward Act includes a menu of options to raise the mammoth amounts of new revenue needed to fully pay for funding increases. Most of those options involve various types of bonds, but the plan also includes a sizable infusion of funds to fortify the weakening Highway Trust Fund.

Construction's volume of federal Paycheck Protection Program loans has jumped 42% since mid-April, updated Small Business Administration data show, but construction's ranking slipped to third among industries, from first place after PPP's first round of funding.

The USG + U.S. Chamber of Commerce Commercial Construction Index plummeted from 74 to 56 from the first to second quarter of 2020. Confidence scores for new business and revenue expectations dropped by 26 points each, to 50 and 44, respectively, but the backlog score only dropped three points.
Officials said that the overall index drop is likely attributed to only 16% of contractors surveyed having high confidence in new business opportunities within the next 12 months, compared to 54% in Q1.
