Updates to the New Jersey Stormwater BMP Manual
Department of Environmental Protection
The Department of Environmental Protection has recently finalized modifications and updates to two additional chapters in the New Jersey Stormwater Best Management Practices Manual (BMP Manual). These chapters include "Chapter 5: Stormwater Management Quantity and Quality Standards and Computations," and "Chapter 12: Soil Testing Criteria." Please note Chapter 12 was formerly Appendix E of the BMP Manual.
These updated chapters incorporate edits resulting from the comments received on the draft versions of these chapters in 2020. These updated chapters, along with the rest of the New Jersey Stormwater BMP Manual, are available at www.njstormwater.org/bmp_manual2.htm.

Murphy gives update on New Jersey's pandemic response
The Daily Targum
Gov. Phil Murphy held a press conference to provide updates on statewide coronavirus disease (COVID-19) contact tracing efforts and his conversation with President-elect Joe Biden.
An additional 3,573 cases and 17 deaths were reported in New Jersey yesterday, bringing the statewide total to 371,579 cases and 15,550 deaths. Another 1,836 deaths were potentially linked to COVID-19.

New Jersey will spend $190 million to renovate Newark Penn Station

New Jersey is investing $190 million on a massive renovation at Newark Penn Station, officials announced Tuesday.
During a news conference at the station, Gov. Phil Murphy said the state is releasing $30 million to carry out immediate restorations at the busy transit center.

House approved waterways bill includes risk management study for Rahway River

The House approved a bill that would expedite a flood risk management study of the Rahway River by voice vote Tuesday. The bill also authorizes a ecosystem restoration project for the Hudson Raritan Estuary, a coastal storm risk management project for the Rahway River Basin and the Peckman River flood management project, which Reps. Bill Pascrell (D-Paterson) and Mikie Sherill (D-Montclair) advocated for.

Nearly 40% of women working in construction hold office support roles

Although the number of women in construction careers has grown steadily over the years, nearly 40% are in administrative and office positions, according to a new analysis of Bureau of Labor Statistics data.
In 2019, there were roughly 1.2 million women employed in construction in the U.S., compared to 10.2 million men. Of all women in construction, 446,000 were in administrative or office support roles.
