Watch for the Webinar — PSGP Insider Tips

Coming up in January, the NMLEA will host a webinar that will feature some key speakers who will provide some "Insider tips" on the upcoming 2023 Port Security Grant Program (PSGP), and how Maritime Security can be elevated through the through a program developed by a list of key industry stakeholders – the Maritime Security Accreditation and Digitization Program (while being funded through the PSGP.) Speakers will include Rob LeClair, Vice President of Moran's Office of Maritime and Port Security (serving America's ports for over 75 years) and Mark Dubina, Director of Security Operations from Port Tampa (the first port in the country to become Accredited in the MARSEC ADaPt Program), to name a few. See you at the 10th Annual Maritime Security East Conference

Join us and your colleagues and counterparts from Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, Ports, State/Local Police, U.S./Foreign Governments and Private Industry at the most comprehensive program dedicated to maritime security, the Maritime Security East Conference, January 30th to February 1, 2023 in West Palm Beach Florida. "We've been involved in the program since its inception a decade ago", said NMLEA Executive Director Mark DuPont. He continued with, "We support this program because is designed to not only provide participants with critical knowledge relative to maritime and port security, but to also provide a platform for them to share their knowledge, ideas and challenges with their peers and leaders in maritime security and law enforcement."
The agenda will consist of a series of speakers and panel sessions which will run alongside 5 impactful work groups. These work group sessions will allow all participants to discuss the topics that matter most to them and to provide ideas and feedback either attributed or anonymously to leadership and their peers. The findings from these work groups will be shared with the entire audience in the second half of the last conference day. NMLEA Executive Director will lead some of those sessions and discussion, including one with port operators and authorities titled "Maritime Security Accreditation and Digitization – What place does it have?" LSU NCBRT/ACE Awarded $22M Grant from DHS/FEMA
Louisiana State University
The US Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency has granted $22 million to LSU NCBRT/Academy of Counter-Terrorist Education.
This funding allows LSU NCBRT/ACE to deliver emergency preparedness education and training to emergency responders at the state, local, tribal and territorial level at no direct cost to participants. These grant funds will be used to develop and deliver DHS/FEMA-certified trainings for prevention and response to active threat incidents, de-escalation training, integrative responder collaboration, integrating mental health responders with certain critical threats and other critical advanced education and training.

EU extends naval operation combating piracy off Somalia through 2024
The Maritime Executive
The European Union has decided to extend its Naval Force Operation Atalanta off the coast of Africa for two years despite the removal of the designation of a piracy high risk area for Somalia and the region of the Indian Ocean. The EU military maritime operation will now run until December 31, 2024.
