Beginning in January, boat owners and buyers in South Carolina will begin to see changes in the way that boat registrations are issued by the S.C. Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR).
As a result of legislation changing the way that counties collect property taxes on boats, changes to the registration process will be phased in over the next three years as current registrations expire. The end result will an annual registration process for boats that closely resembles the system used for automobiles.

The Outer Banks Coast Guard Flotilla of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary will be offering a Coast Guard approved boating safety course on Saturday, February 1. The class will be held at the Pitt Center on Virginia Dare Trail in Southern Shores from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
This course meets the boating safety education training required by North Carolina regulations for boat and PWC operators born on or after Jan 1, 1988.
