As mentioned in last week’s newsletter, in our blog, and in our White Paper, there are no “Safe Harbors” when it comes to avoiding or preventing the next cyber attach. So what do you do? What do maritime stakeholders (shipping companies, terminal operators, cruise lines, port authorities) need to do to prevent, prepare for and respond to the next attack on the horizon? Is “status quo” an option?
We would like to invite you to our live webinar titled “No Safe Harbors: Charting a Smarter Course” where we will focus on maritime operations and the recent cyber events and emerging threats in the industry, while outlining a better route for our maritime partners.
WHEN: Wednesday, March 21 at 11 AM PDT / 1 PM CDT / 2 PM EDT
In this presentation, Mark DuPont, Executive Director of the NMLEA, along with members from the RiskSense team, will discuss best practices in cyber risk management that have enabled maritime organizations to significantly reduce their exposure to and protect their assets from cyber threats.
We hope you will join us for this upcoming webinar!

In 2015, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Officer David Brady found himself fighting to survive in the middle of the St. Andrews Bay. With two gunshot wounds, Brady was struggling to stay afloat. Two and a half years after the harrowing experience, Brady still finds it difficult to revisit the site. "I just went into survival mode," Brady said. "It brings back memories, it does." What should have been a routine stop near the St. Andrews pass turned into a fight for his life. In August 2015, Brady was shot twice after stopping Samuel Reager and Lachlan Akins. The two were on a sailboat.

In the event of an active threat, your personal battle space can span from hundreds of yards to conversational ranges. These can be divided into three discernible distances: long range, confined areas and non-ballistic contact ranges. How you will defend your personal battle space depends on the distance and weapon(s) used by your attacker(s).

A kicked-in door. A room with missing jewelry. A handprint on the window. It's only a scenario, but the people piecing these clues together aren't visiting Las Vegas' newest "escape room." They're soldiers with the 137th Military Police Detachment learning the basics of military police investigations during training held recently at the Henderson Armory.
