With news of another mass school shooting still fresh, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said the suspected Sante Fe High School gunman Dimitrios Pagourtzis had left just one clue to his evil plot: a Facebook post showing a simple black T-shirt bearing the words "born to kill."
Seven months before he shot and killed 17 people at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida in February, Nikolas Cruz posted a photo of his arsenal on Instagram, prompting Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel to describe Cruz's social media content as "very, very disturbing."

As of this writing, port authorities, terminal operators, shipping companies, cruise lines and other stakeholders throughout the maritime domain are now hard at work considering their strategies for taking advantage of the 2018 Port Security Grant Program (PSGP) that was just announced this week. And within this program, there is a unique opportunity for ports to reconsider their approach to one of the top threats to our country, to our economy, and to our maritime lifeline; cyber-attacks. On page 47 of the 2018 PSGP Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO,) "Improving Cybersecurity Capabilities" is highlighted, and in particular, the focus is put on management of cyber risks. But as our community considers their grant applications, similar questions arise across the entire domain when it comes to cybersecurity.

The Department of Homeland Security released its Port Security Grant Funding Notice of Funding Opportunity on Grants.gov on May 21, 2018, with an application submission deadline of June 20, 2018 at 5 p.m. EDT. The survival of a kayaker stranded in deadly cold water on the Chesapeake Bay in April is being touted as an example of how following water safety advice can save lives. Sean Danielson's kayak overturned during a fishing trip on the bay April 18. For more than two hours in 47-degree water, he clung to the side of the kayak at the mouth of the West River. As darkness fell, the belly of his bright-green watercraft was noticed by Lana and Robert Lohe, who were nearing the end of a trip home from the Bahamas.
