Dealing with autistic and differently abled people has been a challenge for law enforcement, primarily due to a lack of training. A deadly shooting on June 14 at a Costco in Corona, California, outside Los Angeles, brought this issue to the forefront again. Following the incident, a panel convened to increase awareness of autism, train officers, and prevent further such horrors. The panel, hosted by Autism Society Inland Empire, urged families to join the awareness discussion, share information, and help train law enforcement officers.

The Department of Homeland Security released a National Terrorism Advisory System Bulletin on July 18, 2019. It updates The National Terrorism Advisory System, or NTAS, a tool designed to communicate information about terrorist threats by providing timely, detailed information to the public. There are now three primary notifications: Bulletins, Elevated Alerts and Imminent Alerts.

Sailing out of South Carolina’s Charleston Harbor on a recent afternoon, the crew of the Coast Guard cutter Cormorant came upon a small boat, its motor on idle and the only clues pointing to the disappearance of Terrance Singleton some crabs he’d caught, his live bait and a single shoe. Officials vowed to keep searching for the missing North Charleston crabber.
“There are no plans at the present to suspend the search,” said Public Affairs Specialist Third Class Ryan Dickinson, a Coast Guard 7th District spokesman in Jacksonville, Florida.
