NMLEA and MARSEC ADaPt at AAPA
NMLEA
That headline has a lot of acronyms, but make note that the National Maritime Law Enforcement Academy will be speaking about its Maritime Security Accreditation and Digitization at the upcoming American Association of Port Authorities conference in Orlando, Florida, October 16-19th. With the goal of taking the Nation's port security community into the digital age by facilitating steps that can effortlessly, effectively, and efficiently enable that transformation, the NMLEA's Executive Director, Mark DuPont, will discuss the program's clearly defined cost-savings and operational benefits for America's ports, while establishing a National Standard for Maritime Security. "We'll talk about how the program is powered by 'best in class' security software in partnership with the maritime domain's leading organizations – and how it recognizes accreditees that have met a pre-requisite standard for Maritime Security Vulnerability Assessments, Training, Exercises, and Cybersecurity Maturity," said DuPont. To learn more about MARSEC ADaPt, and how you can "ADaPt your DOMAIN," go to www.nmlea.org/marsec-accreditation.

Cybersecurity risks have increased dramatically as a result of recent world events, especially with more people working remotely. According to Norton, more than half of all consumers have experienced a cybercrime, with one in three people falling victim to attacks in 2021 alone. It’s no surprise, then, that installers and end-users are increasingly concerned about how an AV-over-IP video distribution system could open up a home to greater vulnerabilities.
