Coast Guard law enforcement crews detected and interdicted a Mexican lancha boat crew engaged in illegal fishing in federal waters off southern Texas recently. "Illegal fishing along the U.S.-Mexico maritime border causes over $11 million in lost revenue annually," said Cmdr. Keith Pierre, the chief of response at Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi. "However, this is more than a natural resource issue. This is a sovereignty issue, and we will continue to staunchly protect our Exclusive Economic Zone."
