Education undersecretary Ted Mitchell joined a roundtable conversation recently on the role that historically black colleges and universities play in helping diversify the STEM pipeline and workforce at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine.

The Cuban Academy of Sciences had the highest proportion of women, at 27 percent, while the Tanzania Academy of Sciences and the Polish Academy of Sciences had the lowest levels, at 4 percent.
