On June 18, 35 years ago, history was made when the first American woman, Dr. Sally Ride, was launched into space on the Challenger space shuttle.
What an exciting moment that was! Over a short period of time in the early 1980s, the United States had its first female Supreme Court Justice in Sandra Day O’Connor, its first female Vice-Presidential candidate in Geraldine Ferraro and its first female astronaut in Sally Ride. The future was female.
